WHAT’S THE VISION?
We’re building a house with the tools of tomorrow! DIGITAL, SUSTAINABLE, CO-CREATION! Finished September 2012 and will be Denmarks first real FabLab.
DIGITAL?
The house is build mainly with high tech digital processes, this means that the design is digital all way through, with all the optimization and complexity possibilities this gives. We transfer the design into our digital fabrication machines and they either cut, mill or print our digital design into the exact physical pieces we need for our house. Even the assembling of pieces will have a digital manual. Click here to see what tools we’re using.
SUSTAINABLE?
We want to meet the demands of a greener future. We have several ways of understanding sustainable: In the design it self, how it adapts to the location through digital logarithms – building locally for local needs, not importing elements from all around the world – a house that produces more energy than it consumes – turning used recyclable materials into new great building components – keep reflecting on the impact every single piece we’re using has on the local environment.
CO-CREATION?
We seek many new grounds with our project, and this means a lot of development and new thinking is needed from all partners and friends involved, who truly becomes a part of the project themselves. People do not work for us but with us, we co-create. The project belongs to everyone who wants to contribute, learn and create new potentials for themselves.
FABLAB?
To say it in another way with FABHOUSE we’re building a Fab Lab from the ground with digital fabrication tools (FabLab equipment) A FabLab is a fabrication laboratory with digital fabrication tools such as laser cutters, CNC-machines, 3D-printers, giving everyone the opportunity to make almost everything. Click here to see more about fab labs.
WHO?
FABHOUSE is a project under the new center for sustainable building VIDENSCENTER FOR BÆREDYGTIGT BYGGERI in Næstved, Denmark. The co-creating process involves a lot of different people with various backgrounds and competences. E.g:
Schools and universities – Research + Improvement of technical skills.
Private companies – Development of new energy and sustainable building component solutions + Commercial window for especially Scandinavian markets
WHERE?
Maglemølle Papirfabrik – An old industrial harbor ground in Næstved, Denmark. Construction site is in a lovely green forest spot right next to fabrication hall in Maglemølle. Click here to see more.
